Client: Imperial War Museum

Location: London

The Churchill War Rooms is a museum in London and one of the five branches of the Imperial War Museum. The WW2 bunker and museum tell the story of Winston Churchill's life and legacy.

Visitors can explore the secret headquarters of 'the greatest Briton', Sir Winston Churchill, and uncover the underground nucleus of Britain's war effort. The first London museum of its kind, the Churchill War Rooms and Museum depicts all ninety years of Winston Churchill's life, divided into five chapters starting from his childhood, through his early years as British Prime Minister and the period famously known as the 'Gathering Storm'.

Chris Brammall was commissioned to design and build a new entrance canopy for the museum.

What people say?

We have worked with Chris and his team for many years now and they have completed some of our most complicated sculpture projects, with the utmost professionalism and care. Our relationship with CB Arts is more than client/supplier, we see Chris and his team as our partners who we trust. Chris Brammall is an artist in his own right and it is this element that makes his manufacture offer special to us, he understands form, scale, aesthetics and how materials will work in the public realm and this is invaluable.

What people say?

We are so delighted with our two major pieces of work from Chris - a Spitfire Sculpture and our staircase. Chris listened to our requirements and gave us designs which exceeded our expectations. The Spitfire is the first thing you see on arrival at DCS Group and it is simply awesome. Then in reception visitors experience his amazing staircase as they make their way to our meeting rooms. All in all - he has created superb work and we are delighted. We would definitely use Chris again.
