Fareham The Town Well

The design approach was to create a structure removed from the 'classic' well design.  It involves the viewer by way of allowing movement over and through the piece to have a more interactive experience.

The use of lighting within the well shaft enhances the depth of the piece and also throws shadows out through the ripple effect grill.  Each of the long tapers are lined up with the centre of a ripple in the grill so that it gives the impression that water dripping from the structure is creating the pattern.

Height: 4.5 metres

Material: Forged steel flats

Finish:  Blasted, zinc sprayed and a black top coast with graphite powder.

Installation 2000.
