We are delighted to introduce you to Alasdair Burrows who joins the team as a Blacksmith Apprentice.
Alasdair Burrows - Apprentice Blacksmith
If you've been following us for a while the name might sound familiar as in April last year Alasdair first came to us for a weeks work experience. At that time Alasdair's letter of interest wasn't your usual kind - it really stood out and struck a cord with Chris hence he was offered the rare opportunity to spend a week with us - you can read our blog about that here: 'I want to be a Blacksmith'.
And that week certainly proved successful for both Alasdair and us - jump forward seventeen months and Alasdair is back with us - but this time on a four-year full-time apprenticeship and we couldn't be happier to have him.
Alasdair will divide his time here at the workshop with studying at Herefordshire & Ludlow College - The National School of Blacksmithing.
Loads more to follow as we hope to introduce a regular Apprentice Blacksmith Blog following Alasdair's journey as a young, creative and passionate apprentice following his dream of being a Blacksmith whilst being mentored by Chris - one of the UK's leading Artist Blacksmiths and creator of the most amazing architectural metalwork. And we think it's going to be quite a story.
Alasdair at the Forge. One of his first projects was a bespoke bird feeder for a private client. Designed by Chris the feeder compliments a wider gate and railing scheme at the Lake District property.
